Expanding beyond its current line of security cameras and home monitoring systems, Lorex Technology Inc. (TSX-V:LOX)(LOXFF.PK) unveiled today the first in a new line of innovative Live View video baby monitors.
The new monitors are said to combine “stylish design with the peace of mind that comes from the ability to monitor your child through clear video, both day and night.” In an age of perceivably over-protective parenting, the device launches Lorex into a new market of customers seeking security and safety. The newer design adds to the company’s previous line of baby monitors, but incorporates a much smaller and inviting design.
Based around a simple plug-and-play wireless system, the Live View is designed to be parent friendly and convenient. But while the system is effective in its primary use, the design is sleeker and more inviting than Lorex’s other monitors and security systems. According to the company, the slim, portable monitoring unit is “attractive enough to rival any state-of-the-art smart phone.”
The Lorex LIVE View packages include an LCD handheld monitor that features a 2.4” screen, feather-touch controls, a rechargeable battery and a stand that doubles as a belt clip. Parents can place the wireless camera anywhere in the house, and still monitor activity as the roam elsewhere. The system is designed to be able to add new cameras (up to three more), in an effort to expand monitoring when families and their spaces expand.
But most attractive about the new device is the LCD screen, which provides crisp and vivid picture quality from any angle, and in any light condition. At nighttime, the image quality remains high and delivers excellent night vision clarity. The monitor features a sleep mode that dims the screen to give parents a good night's sleep while conserving battery life, while circular LEDs shift from green to orange based on sound intensity.
"The Live View is the next generation of video baby monitoring," says Reuben Klein, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lorex. "We have listened to our end-users and have addressed their requests for a stylish and easy-to-use, affordable system that delivers the essentials of family monitoring."
The package also includes a tabletop camera stand that doubles as a mount for walls or ceilings, while the stand for the hand-held monitor doubles as a belt clip for convenience. On top of the visual component, the system also features a two-way-talk intercom, as well as a wireless transmission technology that employs frequency hopping to ensure signal security and privacy. The monitor system is already for sale on Lorex’s website, and currently retails for a sale price of US$229.
